Johnson Lake Trails
An extensive trail/backroad/track network extends between Johnson Lake and South Barriere Lake. To access the trails, take the Agate Bay Road from Louis Creek. This scenic paved road comes to an end at Adams Lake, but the turn-off to Johnson Lake is about 11km to the west (at N51 07.331, W119 49.990). Follow this road north to Johnson Lake. The main trailhead is at the Forest Service Recreation site.
The Johnson Lake Loop trail goes along the North Shore of the lake and then climbs over a ridge and down to South Barriere Lake, then travels east to Upper South Barriere Lake before going south to Johnson Lake, covering 22.4 km.
The Haggard Creek Trail starts near the South Barriere Lake Rec Site and climbs over the hills to Camp 2, then back along the north side of the lake, covering 8.7 km.
The Flume Trail is a short historic trail along the flume system built by the Adams Lake Lumber Company in 1912 to float logs from the high plateau down to Adams Lake at Brennan Creek. It is accessed from Camp 2.
Many other trail options are available. Much of this network are really backroads and tracks that are used for horseback riding, but are also suitable for hiking and mountain biking.
