Joyce Gulch
Special Note – Frolek Cattle Company does not appreciate anyone writing about access to their lands so I have edited this post accordingly. This post serves to warn hikers and bikers that they are concerned and I am advising readers to act responsibly. And, now that I know this, the content of this post has been edited and I will endeavor to avoid future posts like this. Its called the "blog dance."
These trails start at Rose Hill Park, then go through the gully (Joyce Gulch) and beyond to many trails. They are frequently used by mountain bikers and hikers. The upper section is used for cattle grazing and belongs to the Frolek Cattle Company. Most of the sloped area is not fenced. Easement for the powerlines and pipeline provides access near the start areas. Double tracks go up the ridges or span east-west, skirting the heads of gullies. Single tracks travel up and down the gullies, mostly used by mountain bikers.
Many out-and-back routes or loops are available. There are routes that do not cross fencelines, but other routes arrive at fencelines or signed access restricted areas. In addition, routes change over time. Hikers and bikers have to explore the routes and find a route that meets their needs, adapting to what they encounter. As always, respect signs, avoid encounters with cattle, and close gates.
A detailed topo with trails and roads is no longer included here.
