Trophies – East Ridges and Tarns
We took another route into the Trophies and stayed at the Trophy Mountain Chalet. We then explored the ridges and lakes of the east side. It was a hot day so we swam in two of the shallow lakes. We glissaded down snow slopes. We contoured around and between the ridges to high spots. There are also routes to the tops of the east summits (4 of 9). You can also get to this area from the Cwem Cwen Lake area.
To find the trail, you go up the same road to the Trophies, but when the road forks at 4.3 km, stay right. Drive on past the trail to Silvertip Falls and keep an eye on the odometer. Find a parking area near 12.8 km. Look for an unsigned trail on your left that goes down to an old double track. Cross the creek and follow the trail as it climbs east and north. The trail is fairly clear and flagging tape can be seen at various spots. As it rises out of the forest, you will come to a meadow near the (privately owned) Chalet. A small tarn sits next to the site which is their source of drinking water. Trails lead west and north, but once out in the subalpine, you can pick your own route. We set up our tent in a meadow near a tarn and explored, swam, and enjoyed the quiet of the area.
