Buse Hill
One of the most rewarding hikes in our area is Mount Buse. It is not a long hike, but the views are great and the route is all double track.
Go out Barnhartvale Road and turn up onto the Campbell/Robbins Range Road. A short ways up the hill, turn left (south) onto the Robbins Range Road. Follow the road until you see a well-defined double track (at N50 35.943 W120 02.255) going up the hill on your left. There are some abandoned farm houses on the other side of the road. Park here and follow the double track up the road. There are some junctions higher up and each takes you to a different viewpoint. I would recommend going to the middle viewpoint, but make sure you go north to see the pinnacle that stands out from the cliffs to your northwest. The true top of Buse Hill is the non-descript rounded hill to the south, but it is a steep climb onto Crown-lease land and may not be worth the extra effort, except to get the view of the Disdero Lakes.
There are numerous rock-hounding opportunities in the area for opals and jasper (more on this to come).
