Raft Mountain
The advantage of hiking Raft Mountain is that you can drive to a very high point before starting your hike. Directions are provided below. Disadvantages are that the road can be long and rough. The last section may not be drivable in shoulder season. Once you are there, there is good parking and the route is quite straightforward, but steep. It is not a long hike to the top, but the views are impressive. To the north is Moul Lake, Table Mountain, the Trophies and beyond to Garnet Peak. To the west is the Spahats Plateau, and many of the larger lakes. To the south, the views are dominated by Dunn Peak and Baldy. In the distance to the east a long line of peaks in the Monashees can be seen. The hike is a narrow track that climbs steeply and there are some significant drop-offs on the north side. The top is a rocky, tight spot. It is a recommended hike, but one to do once every few years. If pressed for time, Trophy or Battle Mountain are more rewarding hikes.
