Lower Flumes Trail
The previous post describes the Upper Flumes Trail. From the same parking spot, there are also trails below the road. There are really 3 trailheads and the one nearest the parking lot is the middle one, meaning you have to choose to go north or south from the junction. Both are worth doing, but both may require coming back along the road to make a loop. We enjoy the route to the south as it follows Hiuhil Creek to its confluence with the Adams River. At this point you will come to a bridge and a junction that goes north or south. The south route climbs over a sport of headland before dropping down to the riverside, then continues south under big trees and below steep bluffs on the west side. Eventually it climbs back up to the road. We prefer to return the way we came and carry on to the north side, coming back by the road. This is a nice alternate hike if you are in the Shuswap area.
