Lower Adams River
So many of us have been to the Salmon Run on the Adams River, but we forget that there is good trail system there for hikes in all 4 seasons. A good hike when there are no crowds around is a figure 8 loop. We often go down the Forest Trail to the mouth of the river for 1.5 km, then come back up the river, back to the parking area, head north then do the Island Loop, and at the junction, bear north towards the bridge on the Cottonwoods Trail, coming back on the Memorial Trail. Depending on the route chosen, the total distance is a about 7-8 km, all on well-cared for trails, with river views, wildlife, and big trees. This is a trail system that should be visited every year.
