Adams River
There are 4 trail systems adjacent to the Adams River. All 4 are now part of the Roderick Haig Brown Provincial Park system, in 2 pair trail systems. Each one is a separate post in Kamloops Trails.
The trail from the Adams River bridge heading north to the gorge along the east shore of the river has been a favorite for a long time. A new bridge and a new parking area has enhanced the hiker’s experience. Turn left after crossing the bridge and park near the trailhead. The trail bears north along the side of the river. There are good side trails so it is best to make a loop route. We prefer to go out on the rolling riverside trail, then climb the hill and return on the upper route which is part of the old horsepacker route. Hike out as far as you would like along the river, but it ends at Gold Creek. On the way back, the route to the upper trail starts at the power line. We saw some poison ivy on the upper trail sideslopes so keep your eyes open. This is an especially nice route when the summer heat comes to Kamloops. There are pools to swim in and shade along the route.
