Mount Rose
The Rose-Swanson Trails above Armstrong are one of my favorite trail systems to visit every year. This not really a mountain; it is a prominent ridge running north south from the highlands out into the North Okanagan Valley. Finding the trailhead is a little confusing, but from whatever direction you approach from, get onto the Salmon River Road, turn onto Hallam Road, then Chamberlain Road coming from north to south. Look for the parking lot on your left and a trailhead sign. You can follow any of the trails, but a loop out to the far viewpoint and back is a good choice. The route will take about an hour and a half or more, covering 6-9 km, depending on the route choice. I have done this in the snow, during fall colors, and in the summer heat. A trail to return to every year.
