Bush Lake Snowshoeing
For abut 3 years I have been exploring the area around Bush Lake, linking up sections of trails and routes mainly for snowshoeing in winter. There is a good parking area next to the Lac le Jeune Road and sections of the former cross-country ski trails can be combined with old roads and flagged routes to create loops. There are probably more sections to be added, flagged, and lightly cleared, but at this point we have 3 sections.
- The North Loop – 4 km – link to the article
- The South Loop – 6 km – information on the loop
- McConnell Lake West Area – 3 km – a newly scouted but unmarked route:
- Bush Lake South is documented, flagged, marked, and mostly cleared.
- This will be the first route to be stomped in for snowshoers to follow.
- Bush Lake North is mostly roads and double tracks and not yet easy to follow, but will be flagged and marked this winter. It will also be stomped in by December.
- The McConnell West extension uses an old track and an off-trail open forest route. It is not yet marked, but will be flagged and stomped in by the end of December.
- Since the area is bounded on the west by the Coquihalla and on the east by the Lac le Jeune Road, it would be hard to get lost, but anyone navigationally-challenged should wait for us to stomp in the routes for others to follow.
